Daily Message – January 11th, 2015
Today’s theme at church, and in my own study, was about the blessings from prayer and scripture study. I spoke with the Young Men today about being more consistent in their own prayer and study and shared some examples of ways they can set goals. I realized that my daily emails have made me more accountable to making sure I study daily. While I’m not perfect in sending them everyday, I think about it, and it’s a great reminder. I have certainly been blessed by it and encourage you to do something similar. You don’t have to do what I’m doing, but it helps to make yourself accountable in some way.
This principle is also true in other aspects of life. When we focus on improving ourselves in some little way, be it our health, spirituality, relationships, etc., it helps to make yourself accountable. Rely on the people around you for support. Be honest and upfront about your goals and people will help. Helping brings people closer and strengthens relationships, so don’t deny others the blessings of helping by not asking. Being self sufficient, independent, and responsible does not mean being alone, or never asking for help. It took me a long time to learn this lesson, and I still struggle. I hope you have the benefit of learning from my experience.
