What has HE done for me?

Daily Message – January 4th, 2015

While preparing a lesson for the Priests, I came across the talk “Teachings of Jesus” by Elder Dallin H. Oaks. In the talk a young woman asks, “what has He (meaning Jesus Christ) done for me?” I had this question in mind throughout the day Sunday and spent time thinking about all the blessings of life that come from Him. By the end of the day I concluded that the only answer to the question is a single word: everything.

This is beautifully put in the first chapter of John:

1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

2 The same was in the beginning with God.

3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.

4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men.

5 And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.

Jesus Christ, the creator of this earth and redeemer of all within it is the source of every blessing. Like a light shining in the darkness, he provides the the path for peace and happiness in this life and is the source of all blessings after this life.

To quote the prophet Lehi’s parting words to his faithful son:

28 And now, my sons, I would that ye should look to the great Mediator, and hearken unto his great commandments; and be faithful unto his words, and choose eternal life, according to the will of his Holy Spirit; [2 Nephi 2:28]

I encourage you to think about this question and ponder all the ways the Savior has blessed your life. You will gain a deeper appreciation for Him, and have a greater desire to follow His example.
